Families and Children

Introduction

Living abroad with children in tow presents its own unique challenges. When marriage with local citizens comes into play it can bring joy and difficulty. This section of our site focuses on both of these areas. Please feel free to leave comments below. If you’d like to help us by adding information to this page (or by creating subpages) let us know.

Toddler & Preschooler’s Playgroup

The play group meets 2:30-4:30 at the Expo Core playroom on the 6th floor on Thursday.

The playroom is safe and fun for toddlers and older children. There’s a nice little area parents can sit and chat over coffee or tea.

To get to the playroom, go to the back elevator and up to the 5th floor (the front elevator and escalators only go to the 4th), around the corner go up the stairs, go down the corridor past the ballet class and fitness center, go down the corridor toward the restrooms.

Is this still an active playgroup? If it is, what are the ages of the kids who are attending?

I’m also thinking of starting a MeetUp group for Expat Parents (and their spouses) in Daejeon, but I really have no idea if there are enough families (especially stay at home parents) who might be interested.

Thanks very much.

Hello — I would like to know if this playgroup is still active!

(tried posting this question before, but I wasn’t logged in at the time)

Thanks very much!

Hello-

Your comment got stuck in my spam filter, but thanks for your patience. The group is still active, and I’ll talk to the new coordinator and get you some contact information.

Cheers

Kim

Thanks Kim, also for the explanation on the delay (thought you were offline for the holidays, or something).

Take care,
Tamara

FWIW, I took my girls there on Thursday, and we had a lovely time playing, but unfortunately there was no playgroup going on there. The woman at the desk did say that some English speaking moms were still meeting there, but she wasn’t sure when exactly.

If I don’t hear more info before then, might try again on Thursday if anyone wants to join us.

Hi,
We just moved here 2 weeks ago!I have a 2 year old son and would love to get together for playdates,I live in Dunsan-dong…but work during the playgroup hours.

Please feel free to contact me…thus far I have only discovered the Emart playarea and the Galleria Time World playroom…so I’m truly a newbie but would like to know of there are any classes for toddlers…especially if there is a Gymschule around???

Ta.

Rebecca, there is a Gymboree very close to Time World in the same building as the English bookstore. I visited but can’t attend while I have both girls at home all day and it is pricey. Looks like fun though.

If you, or anyone else is interested in getting together, please email me at daejeonmom@yahoo.ca. I’m at home with my girls, so almost always available except on the weekends. We’ll keep trying to meet up with the Thursday playgroup for now….

Kim, how do I get in touch with you? I was looking for a brief bit of advice on something family/children related and wondered if you might be able to help as you seem to be in the know!

Can’t see a way to PM other users on this site.

Cheers,

Chris.
