Arvin, use “Google Toolbar” or Google’s web brower, “Chrome,” and it will ask if you would like languages foreign to what you set as your home language translated at the top of the webpage.

Movies from overseas are almost always in their original language with subtitles. Some animations are either dubbed (더빙) or subtitled (자막). If you Google Daejeon Movies you should be able to see which is which for animations. Korean movies are almost always in Korean without subtitles. A few theaters in Seoul have Korean movies with subtitles in English on occasion. Otherwise, wait a couple weeks and go see it in a DVD room with English subtitles.

@John from Daejeon: I checked the website you gave but it is giving only the korean script. How do I see the english translated version of this website? Is there any option for reading it in English? Does this website has that english option??

You can get listings from http://www.cinecine.or.kr translated into English in one of two ways: 1) Google Chrome or 2) Google translator:

First, and useful for *automatically* translating text (does not work within graphics; e.g. pictures, flash design, etc.) from any Korean Websites you use. Google’s Chrome web browser has their online translator built into their browser and will translate the movie names for English titles and Korean titles quite well.

Both services will work quite, and equally, well. Chrome will allow you many other translation opportunities, and is generally considered much better and safer then Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, so if you use that you should definitely consider upgrading.

I have noticed two things: When translating Daejeon (대전) from within the name of a theater it will translate to “War” with the exception of the art cinema as they translate it as Daejeon, I presume due to the location of the name. Also, the theater # is translated as “tube” rather than theater. But the movie titles seem to be excellent translations .

There's also a Cinus theater in Rodeo Town in Dunsan-dong, between subway stops 110 and 111. Also, Daejeon What's On has a good listing of various shows/performances going on in the city.

To answer earlier question, all I have heard is a test program at the cgv at Yongsan station. I will check up on it in a few weeks when I go to see Speed Racer at the Imax.

Daejeon Academy (across from Daejeon Station) is pretty easy to navigate.

By double clicking the word “Movies” at the top of the website, you are taken to a page that shows the one sheets (pictures) of each movie on the bill and the current day’s play times.

By double clicking on the word “Ticketing” to the left of “Movies”, you are taken to a page that shows what theater the movies are in and the current day’s play times. You can also find a drop down “date” bar that allows you to see at what times the movies will play on future dates.

If you go early, you will miss the rush and usually get a slight discount on ticket prices.
