Hi ,
I have a quick question. I have an e-2 visa and shortly after coming here.I got a multiply re-entry visa. My director recently changed and i had to get a sticker in my passport that says change of employment and they wrote it on the back of my arc. M y question is do i now need a new re-entry permit?? The re-entry is valid until Jan 2011.

Dear Ng-

This is not immigration, only a place for expatriates in Korea to share ideas and knowledge. So, the best I understand is that your Re-entry visa will expire on June 20th. After this date, if you want to leave and re-enter Korea, you will need to apply for a new re-entry visa. You shouldn't need to have one unless you're planning to leave.

Please check with immigration for an official answer. This is only the best of my understanding of the law.

Dear Sir/Madame,
I am holding an F-2-1 visa as I'm married to a Korean for 18 years.
My re-entry visa will expire on 20June, 2010.
Since I have no intention to travel for the moment, can I renew the re-entry visa only when I need to travel? Is there a problem?

Thank you!

Hi Kim.

I'm a South African citizen and recently finished my 2year contract at a public school. I extended my visa which automatically became a tourist visa for the extra 30days. My question is, I don't want to leave Korea yet, I want to get a new job but i'm waiting for my criminal record check. Is it advisable to go to Japan or any other country and re-enter again. Will they give me problems coming back into the country. Please advise. Gratitude in advance.
Good day.

Hello Mylene-

I missed your message until today. Unfortunately, I don't know what that code means. I have never heard of this before and I don't know how it will affect your application for employment visas in the future. Please try asking Immigration directly.

Good luck!

Hello Manjunath-

A visa extension can be processed at your local immigration office. You'll need to bring all associated documentation (such as a new contract, your passport, ARC if you have one) with you and about 30,000 won in cash last time I checked. They have a single form for all visa-related processes. Check the box marked "Extension of Sojourn" and take it to the window where you exchange cash for revenue stamps, and then take the form and your paperwork to the immigration officer. If you don't yet have an Alien Registration Card, you may need to apply for one (10,000) as you will now be in the country for a period longer than 90 days.

Good luck!

From what I know, every day after your visa expires you are at the risk of a fine for 100,000 won PER DAY. Getting an extension on your visa is fairly easy, however, and should be done before your visa expires at the local immigration office. Have your exit ticket with you and there shouldn't be any complications.

Hi, I was wondering about leaving the country after your contract and visa expires. Is there a 24 hour grace period as some blogs suggest? My visa, contract, and alien registration card all expire on July 22, 2010, so does this mean I must leave Korea on that date or face a fine for overstaying or can I leave on July 23, 2010 as I had planned and have no issues as a result? I've also read about a free visa extension as long as you are not still working, any truth to that? Thanks for your help in advance.
