Good news from the Municipal Affairs department: Tashu bikes, the automated bike sharing system is now available to foreigners if you have an ARC card and can read Korean. If you can’t, take a look at the translated instructions here. I was so excited about this news I even took one out for a ride tonight myself.

Thanks for pestering that city official about the bikes not being available to foreigners! A little complaining and encouragement can go a long way. Now I want to try riding one of those bikes.
Nice! Too bad the weather has taken a turn for the worse though.
Cool! I will keep that mind for visitors and share the news. Thank you for making this happen…
Well, I don’t know that I made it happen- I certainly didn’t get any phone calls about it. I did, however, give his number to a Korean who was astonished that we couldn’t use the bikes, too, and who just happens to own a local bike shop.
Anyhow, I’d like to think that I had some effect but I can’t take any credit. I’m just glad it’s fixed.
