Taxi Fares Up

by Kim Hogg on November 14, 2008

In just a few moments the base rates for taxis are going up. With the prices of fuel over the last year it’s hardly surprising that an increase has been in the works. My driver this evening informed me that the daytime fare is going up to a base rate of W2,300 (from 1,800), and the overnight base rate jumps to W2,700 (from around 2,400 if I remember correctly).

Ah, so that’s why it felt more expensive when I took a taxi the other day. I normally don’t take a taxi but I woke up late from my afternoon nap, missed the shuttle bus, and had to rush back to school. I wasn’t sure if the fares had actually increased but I felt that they were cheaper in the past.

Thanks for the confirmation.
