Start packing that umbrella with you! The Korean rainy season has started in the south and will soon progress to Daejeon (Hooray for having a bike trip around Jeju next week -.-).
The rainy season is called ìž¥ë§ˆì² (jangmacheol) or simply 장마 (jangma) in Korean. Those cool nights we have been enjoying are to be no more once the rain starts. From here on in you’re going to appreciate it if you have an air conditioner, and resent anyone who does if you’re among the unlucky.
During this season the humidity hovers around 100% and drying clothes is extremely difficult. Putting a fan in front of your clothing rack tends to help, but don’t forget to crack your windows if you’re leaving that fan on all night (videos after the jump):
(If you don’t speak Korean it’s basically a report on a Mr. Yu and a Mr. Lee who were found dead after sleeping in front of an electric fan).
And a less serious take on the subject:
It seems that the belief is not carrying over to the 1.5 and 2.0 generation:
Here’s the post the (also early) start of last summer’s rainy season: Rainy Season Here

Ok, so the girl in the third vid is not Korean (she says her dad’s Chinese via Vietnam), but it’s about the same story it seems.
