World Food

by daejonchico on March 15, 2008

A new international food store just opened in Daejeon. It’s in front of the Daejeon Train Station, a half a block walking from the station on the right side of the road.  World Food store has a variety of goods, most from Asia. There is a selection of Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, and an abundance of Chinese goods. They sell Thai rice, 20 kg bags, chickpeas, and pork rinds.  A variety of curry mix. Russian vodka and a selection of Chinese liquor. It’s a great place if you want to pick up a curry mix or some chickpeas.

Along the same road as Dongbang Mart.

So is that point C, Chico? The image didn’t come up for me, but if you help me I’ll make a map and toss it up here.

I guess it’s point C (which is not on the map).

From Chico’s description, I guess the directions would be to cross the street from the train station and walk straight on along the road leading into the shopping area of Eunhaengdong.

Yeah, that’s about right. I got a map from Chico today and I’ll see if I can’t scoot over and get a visual on it. I’m working on a Google map of places in Daejeon, but I’m going to see if I can’t find a social map that we can all add places to.

Do you know if this mart is still there? I’ve been to that area a few times and haven’t seen it, but then again I wasn’t looking for it. Is the location on the Google map accurate?

Also, I ran into a guy on the bus who’s lived in Daejeon for a while and he said a Thai restaurant had opened up near Watermelon Sugar in Eunhaengdong, but I can’t find it. Does anyone know about this?

Apparently he’s closed shop and opened a new place near Santa’s/Shisha House/Ali Baba’s.
