Rest in Peace, Bill

by Kim Hogg on March 10, 2008

As you may be aware of by now, Bill Kapoun has succumbed to his injures sustained in a housefire two weeks ago. Once treatment fees have been paid his body will be released to the family for a memorial service at Yongsan Army Base in Seoul, as his father is a retired serviceman. So far approximately $60,000 has been raised toward the medical expenses totalling some $80,000. The family is continues to need donations to cover the remainder of the medical expenses, so if you have planned to make a donation but haven’t yet, please do.

Socius offers its condolences to both the families of Bill Kapoun and his girlfriend (whose name has not been released).

If you are without health insurance, you are entitled to (in fact required to get) it, and details of this can be found over at Korea Law Blog. While Bill was granted health insurance retroactively, national medical insurance in Korea only covers a portion of surgery fees and supplementary insurance is highly recommended.
