Just saw "Into the Wild." Wow! Stunning is an understatement!

Anyone into photography needs to see this beautifully shot film. I'm not a fan of Mr. Penn's politics, but he can sure make a great film. And like the great book it was adapted from, it really makes you think about about this planet and one's place in it. If one can poison one's lungs with carcinogen sticks, why can't they kayak down the Colorado river without a permit or helmet? No matter what, this young man had some big cajones to meet the world head-on and on his own terms.

So, where does it fit on your list?

I saw The True Story of Charlie Wilson's War on the History Channel on Christmas Day here in South Korea. It was really well done, and Charlie, himself, talked about how things really played out.

The film version did leave out quite a bit, including Charlie's drunk driving hit-and-run accident which happened right before he was to leave the country and how he evaded the police. At least he didn't kill anyone when he was driving, but from his moniker of "good time Charlie" could happen anytime he is behind the wheel. He also had a heart attack which was left out of the film, and recently, he received a heart transplant at the age of 74 from a 35 year-old donor. Rather old to be getting a heart transplant, but money and power have huge advantages over the common person who lingers for years on transplant lists. He got his after 40 days.
