Seoul: Monet Exhibition

by Kim Hogg on June 17, 2007

Monet Exhibition PosterThe Seoul Museum of Art is currently hosting the first-ever Korean exhibition of Claude Monet’s work. The show features some of his famous waterlily paintings along with portraits, and scenes of the Seine and Giverny.

Entry is 10,000 for adults, 8,000 for students (13-18) and 6,000 for youth (7-12), free for seniors and children. The museum offers free admission on the fourth Sunday of every month.

The museum is open 10am-10pm Tuesday through Friday and 10am-8pm weekends and holidays. The Seoul MOA is closed Mondays. Watch out for kindergarten groups from 10-12 am on Wednesdays.

To reach the museum, take exit 1 or 12 from the City Hall subway station and walk down the little side street next to the Family Mart and along the wall of Deoksugung Palace (there are signs; it’s a really beautiful walk along a tree-covered cobblestone road). The museum will be on your left as you walk but you won’t see it until you get to the entry road on the left.

The next major exhibition will be of Vincent van Gogh’s work running November 2007 through March 2008.

I would like to purchase a copy of the Monet in Seoul exhibit poster. I would appreciate any information as to how I can do this.
Thank you,
Meredith
