March 25 – Socius will have an information booth on the 1st floor at City Hall from 9am to 6pm alongside booths representing the culture of several Asian countries contact Kim Hogg if you can help out manning the booth and by all means drop by that day.
^^Alert – the above noted event has been postponed until later in the year due to the impending civic elections
April 8 – In partnership with Daejeon International Community Centre (DICC) – Socius will honor Arbor Day by joining in a day of tree planting around the International Exchange Centre’s facility in Geumsan. A bus will take folks there and back and lunch will be provided. Geumsan is called the ginseng capital and a visit to the international ginseng market there might in order. Please contact me if you wish to join the group – promises to be lots of fun.
^^ More info – looks like the bus will leave for Geumsan at 9 am and return between 4 and 5 pm
Date unknown – Socius has been approached by the Korean Water Corporation (KOWACO) with an offer to host us for a one day tour of their facilities and reservoirs in the area (including Daecheon Dam and a trip to Asan – spa capital of Korea). If there is enough interest in a Saturday tour, we will proceed to find a suitable date and get things organized. Again contact me if you have some interest in doing this.
**Note – appears we have enough interest to push on with organizing this event – look for more details to come out shortly
Is anyone interested in learning how to play traditional Korean musical instruments (mostly percussion)? Socius has a rare opportunity to form a Samilnoori group and study with a man who has been designated a Daejeon Intangible Asset. If you have some interest – feel free to contact me and we will see where it goes.
Have a great weekend folks. Consider taking in the first meeting of Clickbug and there is also the Dinner Club on Sunday.
